How to Keep Bangs Looking Good All Day
You know the drill. You leave the house with perfect bangs (or close enough), feeling good, thinking you've got your hair situation under control.
Then, by lunchtime, they're separating, sticking to your forehead, or turning into a poofy mess.
Seriously, why are bangs so dramatic? (Mine are actually wavy. SEND HELP.)
Our bangs can make or break our whole aesthetic, but keeping them looking good all day shouldn't require a trip back to your bathroom mirror!
Here are a few tricks worth trying.
1. Give your bangs their own wash day
Yes, just your bangs. (For those of us who don't wash our hair daily.)
Because they sit right against your forehead, they pick up oil, sweat, sunscreen, and skincare products much faster than the rest of your hair.
And sometimes that's why they look greasy even though you literally washed your hair yesterday.
The trick? Wash just the front section over the sink between your regular wash days. It takes a couple of minutes, and you don't have to commit to washing, drying, and styling your entire head.
2. Go easy on the styling products
If you have fine hair, you already know how quickly a little too much product can turn into a greasy situation.
Heavy serums, oils, and styling creams can weigh your bangs WAY down and make them separate into little pieces or look oily.
Not exactly the look you're going for. I'm guessing?
Start with a tiny amount of lightweight product, if you need any at all. And don't forget the heat protectant if you're using heat!
3. Don't let your bangs air-dry however they want
Especially if you have a stubborn cowlick, naturally wavy hair, or bangs that insist on going their own way.
The way your bangs dry plays a big role in how they'll sit for the rest of the day.
While they're still damp, use a blow dryer and brush to guide them from side to side before styling them into place.
And if you're going for that soft, bouncy fringe, a round brush can help give them a little shape without making them look too flat.
The trick is to get them going in the right direction before they dry completely.
Because once they've dried into whatever shape THEY decided on, good luck convincing them otherwise.
4. Keep a mini styling tool in your bag
Because sometimes your bangs look amazing at 8 AM and questionable by lunchtime.
Maybe they curled up from the humidity. Maybe your forehead got a little sweaty.
WE GET IT. Our bangs are a bit sensitive.
You don't need to straighten your entire head again just to fix a couple of pieces, though.
A small cordless styling tool can help smooth out bends, tame those annoying flyaways, and refresh your front sections when you're out and about.
The BAD HAIR Quick Fix Comb is made for exactly these kinds of touch-ups. It's compact, cordless (I KNOW, RIGHT?!), and designed for smaller sections like bangs and face-framing pieces.
One quick reminder: Only use heated styling tools on completely dry hair, start with a low heat setting, and follow the product's safety instructions. Your bangs don't need unnecessary heat damage on top of everything else.
5. Stop touching your bangs every five minutes
Easier said than done, I know.
But every time you run your fingers through your bangs, you're transferring oils from your hands onto your hair.
And if you just used hand sanitizer... well, imagine that.
The more you touch them, the faster they can start separating or losing their shape.
If they're getting in your eyes while you're working, throw in a little clip until you're ready to fix them.
Sometimes the best thing you can do for your bangs is leave them alone.
(Yes, I'm talking to myself too.)
6. Accept that bangs need a little maintenance
Here's the thing about bangs: they're chic, but they're not always low-maintenance.
Between humidity, oily skin, random cowlicks, and the occasional gust of wind, they're going to need some attention.
That doesn't have to mean spending 20 minutes fixing your hair every time you leave the house.
But you should be able to have bangs that look good without making them your full-time job or regretting them after the first week!
That's why we're a little obsessed with our mini styling tools over here at BAD HAIR. They're made for those little hair emergencies that somehow always happen when you're nowhere near your bathroom.
And we really hope you love them as much as we do!
